ROCKY KEEZER PASSAMOQUODDY PORCUPINE TWIST BASKET

A very special offering by the Passamoquoddy weaver, Rocky Keezer, of New England which we are privileged to be able to show you!  Rocky is one of the top weavers from the Passamoquoddy, and is the son of the great, Clara Keezer, winner of the 2002 NEA Heritage Fellowship Award.  Chosen to have his work in the National Museum in Washington, D.C. he was featured in their book on basketry which is available from the museum.  As you can see from the photos, this basket was made in 2001, and we are so lucky to have it! Measuring 5 1/2" in diameter and 3 3/4" high, this basket has a very complicated weaving technique known as a Porcupine Twist done by the

Passamoquoddy in Maine. Made of brown ash, with a sweetgrass rim, this is a rare opportunity to obtain one of Rocky’s baskets for your collection!
